Custom ChatGPTs, the burden of a form, and... it's business (license renewals) time
Try these custom ChatGPTs to help you write task-focused content for your services and a bunch of whereas statements.
I finally got access to ChatGPT Plus last week and am having fun making custom GPTs. So far, I’ve made:
Do a Gov Thing: helps you write task-focused content for government services
Whereas Writer: drafts content for local government resolutions
Proclamation Writer: crafts proclamations for local events and individuals
I’m still making some tweaks and I would love your feedback on them. Let me know if you have any other ideas for a GPT you want me to make. (Shoutout to Mailee Wang for requesting the one for resolutions!)
Understanding the burden of a government form
Most people interact with your government through forms. A lot of time is spent filling them out and processing them.
At this year’s FormFest, we learned about Rate My PDF - a free tool that calculates the burden of a form. We also learned from it’s creators about what form burden is and how to think about it.

It’s business license renewal time
It’s that time of year again – business license renewals. If your renewal cycle is based on the calendar year, you are probably sending out reminders to hundreds or thousands of business owners right now.
I’m not sure if you’ve ever tried to get or renew a business license. Now that I’m a business owner, I have many times! I have yet to encounter an experience where the rules and process is clear. And, sorry to break it to you - but outsourcing the program doesn’t fix this. It’s still a total pain for business owners to figure out.
I’ve put together some tips and a template you can use to help business owners understand what they need to do.
